Every day, Samuel French celebrates the meaningful impact that the performing arts have on a teen’s growth and development. Now, in honor of John Kander’s 90th birthday and his contribution to theatre, Samuel French is giving 10 passionate American schools a royalty-free license to perform Chicago: High School Edition.

Yes! If you are attached to (or a student of) an American school, an educational organization, or a youth group. If you are a student, you must get the permission of your teacher or instructor before you apply.

Click on the “Apply Now” button (above) to answer the questions and submit your application for a royalty-free license. By video, show us how musical theatre impacts your students’ lives, inside and outside their school community.

All submissions must be received during the entry period that begins on September 17, 2018 and closes on January 10, 2019. Your entry will be adjudicated by professionals from the arts and education industry.

The 10 winners will be emailed and announced on February 11, 2019 via Samuel French and Playbill’s social channels.

Each winner must be able to perform Chicago: High School Edition before December 31, 2020.

This competition is void where prohibited by law. No purchase is necessary to enter.

Who is Eligible?

The competition is open exclusively to schools and youth organizations in the United States*. The Ten (10) winners of The Chicago High School Edition Razzle Dazzle Competition (the Competition) must be attached to a local educational body or organization. Entrants must qualify as authorized personnel or student from such organization and be 18+ years of age to submit videos online. Entrants must demonstrate, with supporting evidence (by video and/or written component), that musical theatre impacts their students' lives inside and outside their school community, and that a free license for three (3) performances of Chicago: High School Edition will support and benefit their school and/or their local community. By submitting a video, the entrant represents and warrants to Samuel French, Inc, it's affiliates and partners that they have all rights, permissions and consents necessary to submit the video, and grant permission to Samuel French, Inc. and its affiliates to use the video in any and all marketing relevant to the competition.

Entrants must have the prior written consent of any person (if a minor, then their parent or legal guardian) who appears in, is mentioned in, or otherwise contributed to the video (including the videographer, if other than entrant) granting entrant the right to include them in the video, to use the video in this competition and as otherwise expressed herein. Entrants are required to furnish proof of such consents to Samuel French, Inc upon request. If entrant is selected as a Winner and fails to furnish such proof in a form acceptable to Samuel French, Inc the entrant, and their entry will be disqualified and entrant will forfeit the opportunity to win the prize.

All entrants must agree not to list any of your sponsors in connection with any advertising or promotion of the “competition” and/or any entry videos if such sponsors do business in any of the following categories: adult themes, language, or situations not appropriate for minors, alcohol, tobacco and firearms. Additionally, in connection with any advertising or promotion of the “competition” and/or any entry videos, entrants may not make use of the book, music, lyrics, choreography, costumes, logo, or other element of any production of the musical play Chicago or Chicago: High School Edition. Any violation of the foregoing provisions shall disqualify organization from eligibility.

Any Employees of Samuel French, Inc., their immediate families, officers, directors, agents, representatives and affiliated companies are not eligible to participate in this competition.

Entry Period:

· All entries must be received during the Entry Period, which begins at 12:01 AM/ET on September 17, 2018, and closes at 11:59 PM/ET on January 10, 2019.
· A review board selected by Samuel French will choose Ten (10) winners that will be announced February 11, 2019 on Social Media and by email.


Winner will be awarded the competition prize of the following:
· Stage rights and standard rental package for Chicago: High School Edition from Samuel French, Inc. (includes up to three (3) performances without royalties); Rental package includes: 32 Libretto / Vocal books, (2) Piano-Vocal Scores, and Standard Orchestration (13 instrumental scores for musicians, which shall be returned to Samuel French within 30 business days of the final performance).
·Required Logo Pack which includes authorized logos in specified color and black & white, with multiple digital format files (JPG, TIFF, PNG and, in some cases, EPS) for marketing production. No other logos or color themes may be used.
· Choreography Videos
· Resource Pack
· Rehearsal and Performance Tracks from Right On Cue Services.
· Video License granting non-commercial (home-use only) video recordings of production for archival use. Video Licenses also grant permission to create copies of recordings to distribute to participants in production.
· Samuel French, Breaking Character Magazine video/editorial coverage

Selection of competition Prize Winner:

Ten (10) winners will be selected on February 11th, 2018, and notified via email and social media. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges decided by Samuel French, Inc. at their sole and absolute discretion. Judging criteria for competition Winners will be based on an unweighted combination of need, community spirit, and how the event will benefit the Entrant's local community, the organization, and its students. Prizes are granted at the sole discretion of Samuel French, Inc. and the panel of judges. Entrants will be required to provide email and contact information, must furnish aforementioned consent forms, satisfactorily completed, upon request create a free customer account with Samuel French. Prize will be awarded to an organization (school, youth group), not an individual.

Except where prohibited by law or regulation, a winner's acceptance of the prize will constitute permission for Samuel French, Inc., its partners and affiliates to use a winner's name, likeness, and statements for any purpose related directly, or indirectly to the competition and this promotion without additional compensation, consideration, or consent. Preexisting or Past licenses and productions of Chicago: High School Edition, arranged through Samuel French, Inc. are not eligible for the competition.

Once an entrant submits a video via Website, the entrant grants Samuel French, Inc., their partners and affiliates, the right to share in whole or in part their entry video on their official social channels, their websites, or any such channels which they have control, or ownership. Any shares of an entry video in no way classifies an entrant as a winner of the competition.

Samuel French, Inc., its partners and affiliates are in no way responsible for any damages, taxes, expenses or liability arising entry into the competition or production of the Chicago: High School Edition prize.

General Conditions:

This Competition is void where prohibited or restricted by law. By entering this Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and agree to release Samuel French, Inc. and any sponsors and administrators from any and all liability for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from participation in this Competition. Samuel French, Inc. and any sponsors and administrators are not responsible for technical, network, electronic, computer, hardware, or software failures of any kind, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in or downloading any materials in this Competition. Samuel French, Inc. and any sponsors and administrators are also not responsible for incomplete, distorted, or delayed Internet/e-mail computer entries. In the event that technical difficulties compromise the integrity or ability of the prize drawings under this Contest, Samuel French, Inc. reserves the right to terminate this Competition at any time. This Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Twitter or any other organization including the Broadway or touring company of Chicago.
